GLI Finance @ LendIt
Next week I will be in San Francisco attending LendIt USA 2016, 11th-12th April. Since the event launched in 2013 it has fast become the preeminent gathering for our industry, acting as the largest conference series dedicated to connecting the global online lending community.
What’s more, GLI Finance is going to be at the heart of it. We’re at stand 203, and I’ll be onsite alongside GLI’s CEO, Andy Whelan, and Amberton Asset Management’s Graham Glass, across the two days.
LendIt is more than just your average conference: it is a meeting place of ideas with over 4,000 decision makers in attendance that leaves you inspired by what the future might hold for the lending landscape. With speakers like Renauld Laplance, founder and CEO of Lending Club, and Robert Wardrop from the University of Cambridge, expect big ideas.
As well as the opportunity to meet new people and companies and reconnect with those I know, the event presents the chance to explore the latest themes affecting our industry. The following is a snapshot of what I am looking forward to:
- It is a theme I focus on regularly and I am keen to hear more on what is being said on a global level. With the phenomenal growth of our industry in recent years, we have a collective responsibility to the businesses served around the world to get it right.
Collaboration with banks
- Expect lots of talk this week on how the AltFi industry can work more closely with traditional lenders. Banks are waking up to the fact that they are now no longer best placed to provide certain services when compared to FinTech providers and the smart ones want to collaborate more.
Innovations shaping the future
- It is events like LendIt where you get the chance to take a step back and find out what change is driving tomorrow. I am looking forward to learning more on the trends beyond our immediate comfort zone. From the growth of FinTech on mobile, to the attitudes of millennials’ towards money and the potential of Blockchain, new thinking will be all around us.
It is set to be an action packed couple of days in California and I plan to provide my daily highlights from each day at the show on LinkedIn.
If you are also there, then please do come say hello.
